Here they host regular events for the whole family including barbecues and music festivals not to mention the free tours and wine tasting that are available daily. Winter Park is an up market town in the suburbs of Orlando . This is the home of the famous Rollins College . Good (but pricey) shops and restaurants can be found here. There is a leafy Park in the centre where concerts are held throughout the summer and the Amtrak train runs through! Checkout the Sunday farmers market or popcorn flicks in the park where movie classics are shown free of charge. |

For a relaxing and informative couple of hours why not take the Scenic Boat Tour . This is a tour of the lakes with interesting local guides providing lots of facts about the wonderful homes that dot the shoreline along with some history of Winter Park . It's also a great way of seeing some native wildlife; last time we were there we watched young eagles learning to fly! |

As you can see there is a lot more to central Florida than theme parks. We have been vacationing in the area since 1993 and although we still regularly visit Mickey and Co we have discovered lots of other places of interest. We have listed a few of our favourites above to give you some ideas of how to spend your days away from the parks (when you've tired of lying by the pool!). We feel sure you will discover your own personal favourites on your trip so why not drop us a line to share these with us. |
